CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS CONCERT - By Patrick Courtin

Patrick Courtin's annual Charlie Brown Christmas Concert makes its first appearance in Tofino! Vince Guaraldi's beloved soundtrack to the 1965 Charlie Brown Christmas animated TV special is lovingly given a live performance rendering by some of Vancouver Island's top jazz musicians. Pianist Patrick Courtin is joined by vocalist Simon Paterson, bassist Drake Shoemaker and drummer Adam Robertson.

The story goes that in 1965 the TV executives at CBS took a gamble. Having a jazz pianist, his trio, and a children's choir create the music to a new animated film for a wildly popular children's cartoon was certainly unusual - but it sure paid off. Vince Guaraldi's original compositions and arrangements have become timeless classics, inextricably linked with Christmas, such as "Christmas time is here" and "Linus and Lucy." Patrick Courtin and his performers are delighted to perform this exciting jazz music that is so special and nostalgic to listeners.
